Mount Nelson Chef’s Table

Last night we were treated by the Mount Nelson to a evening of delicious food at their famous Chef’s Table. We threaded our way through the kitchen doors and by chef stations and were greeted with cheerful “good evening!”s

5 courses and a sorbet later we were disgorged to the carpark and rolled into our cars – tired and happy. A HUGE thank you to Janice, Dion and Patrick for a wonderful evening of delicious food and amazing wine.

We started with drinks in the Planet Bar and moved to the kitchen for the sit-down dinner. The chef’s table is in a little alcove at the back of the kitchen. Each of the courses was presented by the sous chef responsible and we gorged ourselves on some amazing food.

Menu went as follows:

freshly baked bread
a platter of cured meats, marrow and sinew
oysters done 3 ways
prawn curry
linguine carbonara
katonkel with garlic potato (a local fish)
fresh spring lamb
pink peppercorn chocolate dessert

Everything was more delicious than the next and we are incredibly grateful to the Mount Nelson for treating us so nicely!

Thank you Chef Dion, Janice and Patrick – you guys rock!
